X Factor Audition 2009
18.05.2009

Back in February, my Mum told me that she had entered me for The X Factor 2009, I was over the moon. For years I had sat at home wanting to take part in one of these shows and now I would. For me it was all about the taking part and if anything came of it, then great! I thought of singing Duffy’s ‘Warwick Avenue‘, but then my sister said I should sing ‘Break Even’ by the Script.

At my first audition at Birmingham City Football Club, I had to sing ‘Break Even’ for the shows researchers. These are the people who decide whether you are good, bad or interesting enough for TV. A male researcher said of me “ I’m not sure about this at all”, so I though I was a goner! Then a female said “ I think she’s got a great personality”. I could not look at the third judge then (who was a man) as I wondered who he would agree with. Thankfully, girl power won the day and I got a yes. I was glowing with pride and it was truly the best feeling ever. Even now I would not swap it for the world.

A few days later I went to the ICC, Birmingham. There were three session blocks and I was in the 4 to 6 pm one. However, I was not seen till 10.15 pm, by which time I wanted my bed and performing was not on my mind. I was seen by a producer of the show and someone from Sony BMG. I wasn’t quite so lucky this time, as I was told no. But they must have like it to a degree as they said “ maybe we’ll see you again next year”. Will I won’t I? Who knows, but I wouldn’t do any other show at this stage as this one suits my abilities the best.

Since then I have begun song writing, I really enjoy this. I was also praised by my Tutor at College for how I acted when my class mate got though his X factor auditions. ( I really supported him). I love The X factor and nothing could make me have the hump with anyone for not putting me through as it’s a show that changes peoples lives forever.
