Trader stepping into the ring to support disabled children
A 34-year-old Bank Trader from Knightsbridge, London, is stepping into the boxing ring to raise vital funds for Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families.
Holger Scheerer, originally from Germany, will climb into the ring on Saturday 16th November, 2019, at the charity’s annual white collar boxing event, Float Like A Butterfly Ball, sponsored by Diginex.
Held at the Grosvenor Hotel, Mayfair, the event will see eight mainly novice boxers slugging it out in four punishing bouts, each consisting of two, three minute rounds.
The prestigious black tie fundraiser, which includes an evening of top class entertainment, also plays host to an audience of world champion boxing legends and celebrity attendees from the worlds of sport, TV and film.
Holger, who attended the WHU Graduate School of Management, in Berlin, says he is delighted to be supporting the charity. As he explained: “The boxing challenge will give me the opportunity to advance a good cause and I look forward to raising vital money for the charity.”
Holger, who’s married with two children, has had one previous fight earlier this year and he’s continued to take his preparation seriously. “I’m boxing regularly, getting in plenty of running and also looking after my conditioning.”
Holger says that he’s not anxious ahead of the fight and is confident about his performance. As he enthused: “My favourite sports are boxing and swimming so they’re keeping me in good shape before the fight.
“My family are really happy for me to be taking part in the event and, like me, think it’s a great cause.”
BXR London, the high end boxing gym, are the official training partners for the event and are dedicating their training to ensuring that each boxer has a champion mind-set going into their bout.
Float Like A Butterfly Ball, delivered in partnership with Ewing Law, a specialist solicitors, barristers and legal consultancy practice that is experienced in organising high quality white collar boxing events, has fast become one of the most talked about boxing evenings in London.
“Each boxer will have trained relentlessly for the contest and when they climb into the ring, and go glove to glove, they won’t be pulling any punches,” said Kerrie Davies, Associate Director of Events at Caudwell Children. “The energy sapping rounds will make it a really tough challenge for those taking part.”
