Buy One Get One Free registration for wing walk

One of the UK’s leading children’s charities is offering Buy One Get One Free registration on a nerve tingling Wing-Walk taking place in Gloucestershire on Thursday 11th April, 2019.

Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, has announced that anyone who registers for the dizzying challenge between the 25th January and 1st February, 2019, can secure two places for just £25 each, rather than the usual £50 per person.

Adrenaline junkies who sign up for the challenge will undertake the Wing-Walk at RFC Rendcombe Aerodrome, in the heart of Gloucestershire.

“This challenge is not for the faint hearted and you’ll have to have a head for heights,” said Lily Smith, Senior Events and Challenges Coordinator at Caudwell Children. “Obviously, you’ll also need an awful lot of courage and determination to complete the challenge, but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you’ll never forget.

“Not only that, you’ll be helping disabled children to get the specialist equipment, in-home support, therapies and short break activity days that they need and deserve.”

Until recently fundraising wing walks have been prohibited, but recent changes in the regulations means that members of the public can finally realise their dreams and raise money for good causes.

Wing walking, which began in the early 1900s, involves being securely strapped on the wings of a bi-plane as it takes to the skies for a 10 minute flight at speeds of up to 130mph!

The whole experience takes about 90 minutes and will include a comprehensive ground and safety briefing before the flight.

Once strapped into the five-point safety harness participants will take to the skies, making climbs, turns and passes in front of gathered friends and family.

“Wing walkers must be over 18 years old and must be between 5 and 6 feet tall and weigh less than 12 stone,” said Lily. “You’ll also need to be agile enough to climb up to the top wing of the aircraft, which is around 10ft.”

Those who register for the Buy One Get one Free offer will also have their fundraising target reduced to £900 per person, rather than the usual £1000 per person.
