Early bird discount for Stoke-on-Trent Colour Runner

Caudwell Children, one of the UK’s leading children’s charity’s, has announced that it’s offering an early bird discount on registration for its annual Colour Runner event in Stoke-on-Trent.

The 2km or 5km family fun run, which will take place on Saturday 11th May, 2019, is described by the charity as ‘the most colourful sporting event in the region’.

Bosses say that anyone who registers for the event from now until 12pm (midnight) on Sunday 3rd February, 2019, will receive a 10% discount off normal prices.

The run will take place in Central Forest Park, Sneyd Grenn, in Hanley, and will see participants blasted with powder paint as they make their way around the course, leaving them covered from head to toe in a rainbow of colours.

“January is such a tough month for people’s finances following the expense of the Christmas break,” said Hannah Boote, events coordinator at Caudwell Children. “So we’re hoping that our early bird discount may encourage people to save themselves a few pounds by registering for our fabulous Colour Runner now!”

Nearly 300 participants enjoyed the event last year and Hannah says it’s always a fantastic day. As she explained:  “The event is built around having fun rather than breaking records and I think that‘s why it’s become so popular so quickly.”

Hannah describes the run as more party than pain and says that the event is suitable for runners of all ages and abilities. She said: “Colour Runner also incorporates a shorter, accessible 2km course which is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, so the whole family can get involved.

“You can run, jog, hop, skip or simply walk around the course, it really doesn’t matter, it’s just about getting out and having fun.

“I don’t know who enjoys getting covered in paint more, the adults or the children!”

Registration on the day will be from 9:00am with the 2km run starting at 10:00am, closely followed by the 5km run which will set off at 10:30am. Each race will be preceded by a warm up session.

“Those who take part in Colour Runner love it and we receive so much positive feedback about the run,” enthused Hannah. “We guarantee multi-coloured fun from the crack of the starting pistol to the celebrations at the finishing line.”

The money raised from the event will help the charity to deliver a range of specialist equipment, treatments and therapies to disabled children across the region.

Entry to the 5km event is £22 for adults and £15 for children (aged 14 and under). Entry to the 2km run is £15 for adults and £9 for children. Children can run unaccompanied from the age of 15, whilst children 13 and under must run with a responsible adult.

Entry includes a FREE T-Shirt for adults and FREE sunglasses for children and every runner who crosses the finish line will receive a Colour Runner medal.

“We’re asking those who register for the event to set themselves a £50 fundraising target,” concluded Hannah. “But we’ll provide runners with a fundraising pack, containing an A-Z of fundraising ideas, to make sure that they smash their target.”
