Glitzy London Ball raises over £1 million for disabled children

Last night six disabled children and young people, who have benefited from the support of Caudwell Children, attended the charity’s annual, flagship, fundraiser, The Butterfly Ball, one of the most prestigious fundraising events in the country.

Jennifer Jakaj (6), Noah Wall (7), Susanna Petersburska (9), Mia Thorn (10), Luke Holland (14) and Eddie Cassidy (18), enjoyed the VIP treatment as part of the charity’s 10th Anniversary celebrations of holding the Ball in London.

Singers Peter Andre and Rachel Stevens,  EastEnders star and former Blue singer Lee Ryan, and award winning actor Dean Andrews (Life on Mars, Last Tango in Halifax) were amongst the stars who joined them on the Red Carpet at the glitzy event which raised over £1 million for the charity.

Over 800 guests were welcomed at the Ball which culminated in exclusive performances by Paloma Faith, who has three double-platinum albums to her name, and Craig David presents TS5, who’s sold 14 million records worldwide.

The charity’s special guests posed with a selection of celebrities on the ‘Red Carpet’ ahead of the event, and were delighted to meet so many high profile VIP’s.

Mark Bushell, PR Manager for Caudwell Children, said that the young guests appeared to enjoy the media limelight. As he explained: “They were desperate to meet the stars on the ‘Red Carpet’ and they had different celebrities that they were looking out for.

“Within seconds of them meeting their idols the photographers were snapping away, much to their delight. They loved the experience and through the course of the evening they met, amongst others, former England and Arsenal goalkeeper, David Seaman, TOWIE stars, Pete Wicks and Danielle Armstrong , and of course Paloma Faith, Peter Andre and Craig David.

“It’s undoubtedly a night that each and every one of them will never forget.”

The evening’s auction, hosted by renowned charity auctioneer, Charlie Ross, which featured  a film detailing the challenges faced by the children that the charity supports, helped to raise over £1 million for Caudwell Children, founded by the entrepreneur and philanthropist, John Caudwell.

Lots on offer in the exclusive auction included a seven night stay on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, an F1 racing experience at the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix and seven night stay in either Thailand or the Caribbean on John Caudwell’s superyacht Titania.

Proceeds from the event will be used to transform the lives of disabled children living in the UK through a range of services. Since 2000 the charity has provided over £37 million worth of support and helped over 20,000 families from across the UK.

The party carried on into the small hours with an after-show party in the hotel’s Red Bar, which featured a DJ set from veteran electronic music producer Andrew Galea.

The star-studded evening was hosted by singer and entertainer and long standing Caudwell Children Ambassador, Peter Andre.

Charity Chief Executive, Trudi Beswick, said: “We are delighted at the overwhelming support we received from all of our guests on the night. This money is more important than ever as the demand for our support increases. This will enable us to touch the lives of thousands of children. I can’t thank everyone who donated tonight enough.”
