Join Nell McAndrew in the London Marathon
Caudwell Children, one of the UK’s leading children’s charities, has announced that it has a limited number of charity places available for the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon.
And bosses at the charity have revealed that those lucky enough to secure one of their remaining places will be joining model, television presenter and accomplished amateur athlete, Nell McAndrew on the Caudwell Children team.
“Nell, who is leading our team of runners this year, is a big supporter of the charity,” said Kerrie Davies, Associate Director of Events at Caudwell Children. “She regularly attends our fundraising events in London and now she’s going one step further by raising funds for us through the London Marathon.”
The charity offers excellent support to runners including a pre-race pasta party, with their Caudwell Children teammates, and a celebratory post-race party where runners can let their hair down with family and friends.
“The post-race party will include a meal and a sports massage to help relax those aching muscles after the punishing 26.2 mile run around the streets of London,” explained Kerrie.
Nell, aged 45, only took up running in her thirties with her motivation to raise money for charity as well as get fit.
She quickly excelled in the sport and in 2012 she became the 34th fastest British woman over 26.2 miles, when she smashed the three hour barrier to finish the London Marathon in a time of two hours and 54 minutes.
Nell, who has presented It’s a Knockout and The Big Breakfast and starred in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and Dancing on Ice, during her career, will be making her sixth appearance in the London Marathon on Sunday 28th April, 2019, and Kerrie says prospective runners will have to act now if they want to join her.
“Registration closes on Friday 25th January,” said Kerrie. “This is your last chance to be involved in one of the greatest sporting events on the planet, so if it’s on your bucket list of things to do you need to register now.
“You’ll not only have a fabulous experience you’ll also be helping Caudwell Children to provide an invaluable service to disabled children across the UK.
“You can take great pride in the fact that with you support we’ll be able to help even more children with therapies, treatments, specialist equipment, short breaks, in hospital and in home support and an annual dream holiday to Disney World, in Florida.
“Oh, and of course you can say you were part of Nell McAndrew’s team!”
Runners also receive a stylish running vest, with their name printed on it, and a fundraising pack containing a selection of materials and tips that will help them reach their fundraising target.
