Caudwell Children’s Lockdown Challenge
We are sure that by now a lot of us are climbing the walls during this lock down, running out of ideas to keep the kids entertained, but also worried about keeping fit and healthy. Why not try a few lockdown challenges that you can do in your house or garden, or during your daily exercise, and raise money for Caudwell Children at the same time?
All you need to do is pick a challenge or set a goal, set up a JustGiving page, and share with all your friends and family so they can get sponsoring and supporting you.
Please let us know what your challenge is using the registration form below and we can support you with your JustGiving page and your fundraising ideas. If you commit to raise £50 or more and we will send you a Caudwell Children t-shirt to wear whilst taking on your challenge.
Now for the challenge
If challenges are your thing, why not give some of our 30-day challenges a go, such as the 30-Day Squat, Abs or Plank challenges. You can also download a number of great apps for free from the App Store or the Google Play Store to help you track your progress!
If challenges aren’t so much your thing, get the whole family involved! You could hold a garden race, and the first person to complete a certain amount of lengths will be crowned the Ultimate Garden Champion!
If you are more of an indoors person, why not try ‘gamercising’? A fun fusion of video games and exercise! You can use popular games such as Just Dance or Zumba or even use your Nintendo Switch and take part in Ring Fit Adventure or some Mario and Sonic Olympic Games and have your friends and family sponsor you!
If you are looking to kick-start your ‘get fit’ regime, why not set yourself a target to run, walk or cycle 20, 30 or 40km in a week and get sponsored to do it? There are some great apps to encourage and help you reach your goal whilst having fun along the way! Here are some free apps we recommend to bring a new lease of life to your workout:
Couch to 5K
Tried and tested by some of our team! You can even pick a famous voice to help you through the programme, and you can listen to your favourite songs as you go! This app doesn’t track your route, but works along-side apps such as Map My Run, Nike Running and Strava.
If you prefer to exercise from the comfort of your own house or garden, and own an indoor bike, cross-trainer or treadmill, then this app is for you! Using your phone or an iPad, load up this app and pick one of thousands of routes to take including volcanos and cities!
Are you a fan of Pokémon or do you have kids that are? Then why not integrate the fun of catching and hatching Pokémon with your daily exercise? On your daily exercise, use your steps and distance to hatch your Pokémon,
Harry Potter – Wizards Unite!
Use your local streets and green spaces to find magical artefacts, creatures and memories – you can even take part in 3D magical encounters to keep hold of your magical finds!
Run an Empire
Always fancied seeing if you could run your own empire? Well, now you can! Load up this app as you head out on your daily run or walk and watch your empire grow with every step you take! Conquer new land as your travel around your local area and take on rivals for their land.
Load this app before heading out on your exercise and become immersed in a zombie apocalypse along your route. Collect items as you go for your camp as you try to make it back in one piece. There are loads of missions to complete, and you can play the game once you have finished your run.
Whilst we want to promote activities to keep fit during this unprecedented time, please be respectful of the social distancing rules if exercising in your local streets of green spaces. We would like everyone to remain safe during this time.
