Open air films will raise vital funds for disabled children
Caudwell Children, the Staffordshire based charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, has announced that it is to hold two open air film screenings to raise vital funds for disabled children in the region.
The screenings will take place at Barlaston Cricket Club, Stoke-on-Trent, ST12 9AJ, on Friday 20th September and Sunday 22nd September 2019.
Working with UK Eventures, who specialise in outdoor, open air, screenings, the charity will present Grease, the classic American 1950s high school musical, on Friday, and the musical biographical film The Greatest Showman, on Sunday.
The films will start at 7.30pm but may be delayed depending on light conditions.
“Grease is a classic film with a magical soundtrack that has stood the test of time,” said Vicky Glanville from Caudwell Children. “Who can forget John Travolta’s performance as Danny Zuko and Olivia Newton-John’s sizzling portrayal of Sandy, the chemistry between them was unbelievable.
“Whilst both films are PG rated the Sunday screening will be more family friendly and I’m sure children will love singing along with Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Rebecca Ferguson to fill the air with the melodies of A Million Dreams, This Is Me, From Now On and more.”
Barlaston Cricket Club’s facilities will be open allowing a full bar service onsite, including real ales and soft drinks, and there will also be food and snacks available.
Outdoor cinema shows are one of the UK’s fastest growing events with thousands of people looking for outdoor screenings and Vicky is urging people to buy their tickets now to avoid disappointment.
“Throughout spring and summer the open air shows are increasingly popular,” explained Vicky. “UK Eventures 8 metre inflatable screen is easily the best product for large outdoor cinema events and is capable of screenings for up to 600 people, so they’re going to be fabulous shows
”We expect tickets to sell quickly, and you won’t be able to purchase them on the day, so people need to buy their tickets now.”
To boost the charity coffers Jersey based MYMemory Ltd has donated 60 inflatable loungers allowing ticket holders the option of upgrading their ticket.
“Standard tickets are priced at £16 for adults and £12 for children,” said Vicky. “But ticket holders have to respect that the club and its facilities are licenced premises so there are restrictions on what drink, snacks and accessories can be brought onsite.
“However, we’re giving ticket holders the chance to upgrade to either our Deckchair and Priority View ticket, or our Airbag Lounger ticket.
“For an extra £9 you can watch the film from the comfort of your own deckchair, which we’ll supply you with.
“We’ll place it at the front for you and we’ll even throw in a bag of popcorn, but if you want to really chill out our inflatable Airbag Lounger ticket will allow you to lie back and enjoy the film, with a bag of popcorn of course, on a large inflatable airbag!
“This upgrade costs £12, but after the screening you’re free to take the comfy lounger home.”
Alternatively you can cosy up for the movie with a cushion and a blanket for just £5. Snack packs, which include a chocolate bar, popcorn or crisps and a soft drink, will be available for £4.
