ASDAN LifeSkills Challenge

In light of the COVID-19 situation, Caudwell Children are delighted to offer the ASDAN LifeSkills challenges in an online format, to learners between the age of 8 – 18 years across the UK.

What Is It?

The ASDAN LifeSkills program provides learners with a wide-range of exciting challenges.

The challenges promote a variety of different skills and cover a wide range of different topics – they are usually about being able to do things and they can all be adapted to meet the individual needs of the children.

The programme includes a comprehensive set of challenges, such as:

How Does It Work?

After registration your child will be assigned to a small group of participants (typically up to 6 families) who will meet through a live video chat using the ‘Zoom’ video conferencing platform.

Prior to each online meeting, a challenge will be chosen by the staff member who would be running the session. You will be emailed a pre-group information sheet that informs you of the upcoming challenge and if any preparation is required in advance.

Is there a Fee?

No, ASDAN LifeSkills Challenge is funded by Caudwell Children to learners between the age of 8-18. Any family with access to a computer and the Zoom video conferencing platform can take part.

How will my child gain a Certificate?

ASDAN sets out the evidence required for each challenge. The evidence will be a combination of observation sheets, oral questioning and photographic evidence. The staff member leading the session will observe and ask questions when needed to gather the required evidence for the challenge. Photographic evidence will be required by families to send via email.

Each challenge will have a notional 10 hours of delivery. The challenges will be carried out through regular ‘Zoom’ online groups (3 sessions per week for approximately 30-45 minutes). What’s more, families will have additional tasks to complete in their own time between the Zoom sessions.

Families who miss a session would not be accredited for that challenge, although they would still be able to do the activity by themselves. They would just re-join at the next challenge.

Is the award externally credited?

Lifeskills Challenge comes with the option of ASDAN certification, offering recognition for small steps of achievement.
