Struggling to find exciting ways to entertain the kids at the weekend? If the answer is yes, Caudwell Children has the perfect solution for you!

Caudwell Children in partnership with Staffordshire County Council’s Aiming High programme, run Short Breaks activity sessions during weekends for children and young people aged 8-18 living in Staffordshire (excludes Stoke on Trent), who have a registered disability. Children or young people who are on the autism pathway will also be eligible to attend.

These sessions are a fantastic way for your child to have fun, make new friends and build confidence in a safe and welcoming environment.

Your child will have freedom to try different activities and find new interests while providing you with vital respite so you can go shopping, catch up with friends or take some well-deserved “you” time.

During our Staffordshire Short Breaks sessions, children will also be able to take part in ASDAN modules. These modules provide your child with meaningful skills that they can use in their everyday life.

ASDAN modules are developed specifically for learners with a wide range of learning needs and abilities that will prepare them for later life.

Before you attend your first Short Break

What to expect when you sign up through Aiming High to receive support from us.

1) We will contact you to complete an initial assessment to check that we have a good understanding of your child’s needs. We will ask you for a copy of your child’s EHC Plan as well so that we can see how we can support your child to achieve their outcomes.

We will ask you for information about things that are really important to your child and what best support looks like and we will develop a short one page profile with you that we will be able to share with our staff and volunteers. This will ensure that your child is receiving a person centred approach to their support whilst they are at the short break.

2) We will contact you after 6 months and review the information we have about your child and we will check to see if we are helping your child to meet their outcomes.

3) After 12 months, we will do a more detailed review with you to see how the last 12 months have gone and we will work with you and your child to develop new outcomes or continue to work on the same ones.
