Child with sensory toy

A Get Sensory Pack from Caudwell Children is helping four-year-old Laani Mosley to relax and communicate with his family.

Laani has Global Development Delay, Sensory Processing Disorder and Chromosome Deletion Disorder.

His mum Sam, from Wiltshire, applied to Caudwell Children for one of the charity’s Get Sensory Packs to help Laani overcome sensory struggles when he feels overwhelmed and improve his communication.

Since receiving the pack, Sam says the pack has been “invaluable” in supporting Laani to regulate his emotions and calm down when overstimulated.

He uses each of the items in the pack to relax – all of which are selected by Caudwell Children’s in-house team of Occupational Therapists.

She sent us a video showing Laani enjoying using the Massage Roller to thank Caudwell Children for supporting their family.

Sam said:

“Laani has developmental delays, sensory processing and chromosome deletion disorder. After being eight weeks premature, he has faced many battles and is now using a feeding device.

“He finds his sensory struggles extremely difficult and overwhelming which causes him severe anxiety.

“The pack from Caudwell Children has proven to be invaluable in helping with regulating his needs and creating a calming, full-body sensory experience.

“After using the 4-ball massager, he let out a priceless giggle so we are hopeful the pack will aid his communication too.”

Trudi Beswick, CEO at Caudwell Children said:

“Our Get Sensory packs are designed to support children who are likely to benefit from sensory equipment to use at home or when they’re out and about – it’s so encouraging to hear that Laani is enjoying using the equipment.

“We plan to support thousands more children like Laani this year. But we need donations to make that happen. So please support us if you can.
